Chris McMahon
CEO, Partner, Co-Chairman
Chris McMahon, MS., is a New Orleans native. He has managed in pharmaceutical research, medical device and hospice for 22 years. After personal experience, he saw the dramatic need for high quality, patient centered hospice care in New Orleans and began to work in the industry. He saw first hand what an enormous impact great hospice care can make on the family and dedicated himself to this work. In July of 2011 he and Dr Dan Harlin formed Passages Hospice, llc. Together they have assembled the city's most qualified hospice team to lead Orleans Parish first and only 9,000 sq ft fully licensed Inpatient hospice facility.

Shelley Barreca
Vice President of Operations
Shelley Blais Barreca RN, BSN, is a local New Orleanian who graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Our Lady of Holy Cross College. Shelley began her career as an Oncology Nurse and provided compassionate and comforting care to her patients and families. Shelley transitioned into Hospice and Palliative care in 2000, and has found it to be a true calling and considers it a privilege to care for patients and families in their greatest time of need. Shelley has developed protocols and clinical pathways for her patients to provide the highest standards of care for her patients based on this experience. She is a founding member of the Magnolia Chapter of Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association in 2003 and has served as a Steering Committee Member, Treasurer and most recently as President in 2010 and 2011. She now serves as VP of Operations for Passages Hospice as well as Director of Development for Life is a Legacy Foundation.

Cindy Walker Monistere
Director of Nursing
Cindy Walker Monistere, RN is a native of Ponchatoula Louisiana and is active in her community. Cindy is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University where she earned her nursing degree. Cindy began her career as a telemetry nurse in 2004 and then began to pursue her life long dream of practicing as a hospice nurse in 2006. Hospice is where Cindy has found her calling and for the last nine years has provided care with the utmost compassion to patients and families in their greatest time of need.

Danielle LaRoche
Director of Admissions & Patient Services
Danielle LaRoche graduated magna cum laude with her Master of Social Work Degree from Tulane University. As the President of Tulane School of Social Work, Danielle served as a leader in the gerontological social work community. While working for Peoples Health Network, Danielle dedicated herself to older adults in the New Orleans community by providing therapeutic interventions for depression, anxiety, age related illnesses and end of life care. Danielle believes she was spiritually led to hospice care and is passionate about empowering families through the grief process. Serving as the Director of Admissions, Danielle is responsible for managing all admissions processes and strives to ensure that all families feel supported, well informed and listened to. Due to her extensive knowledge of insurance and the changing landscape of healthcare, Danielle has the ability to navigate hospital processes with ease, which translates into a decrease in stress and anxiety symptoms for families. Danielle's personal and professional motto is to "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others".

Dr. Kenneth Malmstrom
Inpatient Medical Director
Dr. Kenneth Malmstrom is an internist from New Orleans Louisiana. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and has been in practice for over 20 years. He cares deeply for our community and is involved in several community organizations.

Dr Klaus Koelbel
Inpatient Rounding Physician
Dr. Klaus F. Koelbel is a ABIM Certified Internist. Born and raised near Hamburg, Germany, Dr. Koelbel completed Medical School at the University of Ulm, Germany. After satisfying the American Licensing Exam (USMLE) he continued his medical training at Tulane University Medical Center and Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Since completion of his Residency training, he is on staff at Ochsner medical center in the New Orleans practicing hospital medicine

Daniel Harlin,M.D.
Co-Chairman, Partner
Daniel Harlin,M.D., Is a New Orleans native who went to Tulane and practices on both sides of the Lake. Dan is an interventional radiologist whose work with radiation oncology and dementia patients drew him to hospice work. It was his commitment to hospice that brought together all the pieces to bring New Orleans its first inpatient facility.
